Wat is Surrealisme?

Surrealisme begon in de jaren 1920 als een kunst- en literaire beweging met als doel het onthullen van het onbewuste en het ontketenen van de verbeelding door het verkennen van ongebruikelijke en droomachtige beelden. Beïnvloed door de psychoanalyse van Sigmund Freud, probeerden surrealistische kunstenaars en schrijvers het onbewuste in het rationele leven te brengen, waarbij de grenzen tussen realiteit en dromen werden vervaagd. De beweging had als doel om conventionele opvattingen uit te dagen en de irrationele aspecten van de menselijke ervaring te uiten.
