Unique double sided Screenprint with Ink stains, on soft white Wove paper - Authenticated by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts - 22 x 29 x 4 inches (double sided Plexiglass Case) // Andy Warhol's Electric Chair (Retrospective Series) (1978) is a striking screen print presented as a unique, double-sided piece housed within a plexiglass case. The print, authenticated by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, features Warhol’s iconic imagery of the electric chair, a recurring motif in his work exploring themes of death and societal violence. The use of black ink stains and the stark contrast against the soft white wove paper amplify the chilling and somber mood of the piece. The double-sided presentation allows viewers to engage with the artwork from multiple angles, enhancing its impact as a provocative commentary on mortality.

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
