Damien Hirst's Colour Chart H-2, giclée print on aluminum, features an array of color swatches with labeled names and numbers.

Giclee on aluminium - Hand-signed by the artist on reverse // Colour Chart H-2 by Damien Hirst is a giclée print on aluminum, created in 2017 as a limited edition of 250 pieces. The artwork features a meticulously arranged array of color swatches, each labeled with a name and number. The composition is reminiscent of traditional paint color sample charts, emphasizing Hirst's fascination with categorization and the aesthetics of industrial design. The orderly layout of hues, ranging from vibrant reds and blues to softer pastels, reflects a sense of control and precision, yet the artistic presentation invites viewers to contemplate the emotions and associations tied to each color. The work is hand-signed by the artist on the reverse.

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
