Lithograph on Zerkall Copperplate Deluxe paper - Signed, dated and numbered in pencil. Dry stamp. Ed. Gemini G.E.L, LA (FS72- 442) // Frank Stella's Kay Bearman (1972) from the Purple Series is a lithograph that features a multi-sided, octagonal shape made up of concentric lines in deep purple. The geometric form occupies the left side of the composition, leaving a large amount of negative space on the right, emphasizing the contrast between form and emptiness. The repeated, diminishing lines create a sense of depth and focus, drawing the viewer's eye inward toward the hollow center of the shape. Produced on Zerkall Copperplate Deluxe paper, this lithograph is signed, dated, and numbered in pencil, with an edition from the esteemed Gemini G.E.L. studio in Los Angeles. Stella's piece reflects his minimalist approach, focusing on repetition, symmetry, and geometric abstraction.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
