// Blauer Stern by Guillaume Corneille, created in 1999, is a limited edition lithograph showcasing the artist's vibrant and imaginative style, rooted in the Cobra movement. The artwork, measuring 116 x 76 cm, features a surreal composition with a bold blue star at its focal point, surrounded by fantastical figures. The lithograph's color palette is dominated by warm reds, yellows, and deep blacks, which contrast with the striking blue of the star, creating a dynamic and energetic visual effect. Corneille’s signature blend of abstraction and figuration is evident as he combines human and animal forms in a dreamlike setting, reflecting his fascination with mythology and the subconscious. Blauer Stern captures Corneille's expressive use of color and form, making it a quintessential example of his lyrical and spontaneous artistic approach.

What is the CoBrA movement?
CoBrA stands for Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam; the group was formed with a desire to break away from the existing art movements of the time. Their critique of Western society led them to experiment and evolve into a significant international movement. CoBrA was founded on November 8, 1948, at the Notre Dame Café in Paris, where its manifesto was signed by Karel Appel, Joseph Noiret, Corneille, Christian Dotremont, Constant, and Asger Jorn. The group was united by a shared commitment to freedom in both form and color, and their work emphasized experimentation and spontaneity.
