Image size: 54,0 x 75,6 cm / 21.3 x 29.8 in - Paper Size: 69,0 x 91,0 cm / 27.2 x 35.8 in // Demi-Lune dans ciel Catalan by Guillaume Corneille, created in 1990, is a dynamic lithograph that reflects the artist's affinity for vivid colors and playful imagery. The artwork depicts two stylized birds in red and yellow, seemingly engaged in an animated interaction, set against a deep blue sky. A crescent moon, rendered in bold yellow with a face, adds a whimsical touch, watching over the scene from the corner. The birds, adorned with striking patterns, are perched on a patch of green grass, which stands in contrast to the surrounding colors, enhancing the piece's vibrancy. Corneille’s style, influenced by the COBRA movement, embraces bold outlines, expressive shapes, and a sense of spontaneity. This limited edition print, measuring 70 cm by 90 cm, invites viewers into a colorful, imaginative world, blending nature with elements of fantasy and mystery.

What is the CoBrA movement?
CoBrA stands for Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam; the group was formed with a desire to break away from the existing art movements of the time. Their critique of Western society led them to experiment and evolve into a significant international movement. CoBrA was founded on November 8, 1948, at the Notre Dame Café in Paris, where its manifesto was signed by Karel Appel, Joseph Noiret, Corneille, Christian Dotremont, Constant, and Asger Jorn. The group was united by a shared commitment to freedom in both form and color, and their work emphasized experimentation and spontaneity.
