Original photograph, hand signed by Christo and by W Volz (Christo's photographer) // Christo Javacheff’s Reichstag Mappe II, Nordfassade is a limited edition photograph capturing the north facade of the Reichstag building wrapped in silvery fabric, a monumental art installation realized in 1995 by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. This image, signed by both Christo and his photographer Wolfgang Volz, depicts the Reichstag standing imposingly under a dramatic sky, with a barge passing by on the Spree River in the foreground. The draped fabric creates a sculptural effect, softening the building's architecture while transforming it into a temporary, ethereal structure. This work highlights the artists' commitment to reimagining public landmarks, creating fleeting, powerful statements on the relationship between humanity, history, and environment.

What is Nouveau Realism?
Nouveau Réalisme is an artistic movement founded in 1960 by art critic Pierre Restany and painter Yves Klein during a collective exhibition at a gallery in Milan. Restany wrote the original manifesto in April 1960, proclaiming the movement. In October of that year, nine artists, including Martial Raysse, Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, Arman, Pierre Restany, and three Ultra-Lettrists—Jacques de la Villeglé, François Dufrêne, and Raymond Hains—signed the declaration. In 1961, the movement expanded to include Mimmo Rotella, Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps, and César. The movement emphasized a return to reality in art, often incorporating everyday objects and exploring the boundaries between art and life.
