Lithograph in colors, on Arches and Japan paper, with full margins.- S. 29 1/2 x 20 7/8 in. (74.9 x 53 cm). Signed in pencil - published by Ediciones Polígrafa, Barcelona - From the portfolio Maravillas con variaciones acrósticas en el jardín de Miró (Wonders with Acrostic Variations in Miró's Garden) // Maravillas - M1055 by Joan Miró, part of his Maravillas con variaciones acrósticas en el jardín de Miró portfolio, is a 1975 limited edition lithograph printed on Arches and Japan paper. The artwork is filled with abstract forms and vibrant colors, including shapes in orange, green, black, and purple, which seem to dance across the surface. A large triangle form, punctuated with dots and lines, interacts with softer organic shapes, adding depth and intrigue. The title, Maravillas (Spanish for Wonders), suggests an invitation to marvel and explore, aligning with Miró’s intent to encourage personal interpretation. This piece exemplifies Miró’s masterful blend of abstraction and symbolism, creating a playful yet enigmatic scene.

What is Surrealism?
Surrealism began in the 1920s as an art and literary movement with the goal of revealing the unconscious mind and unleashing the imagination by exploring unusual and dream-like imagery. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, Surrealist artists and writers sought to bring the unconscious into rational life, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. The movement aimed to challenge conventional perceptions and express the irrational aspects of the human experience.
