Continuous computer animations on LED screen, presented in a walnut enclosure specified by the artist - Signed and numbered to verso // Dancing Figure 4 by Julian Opie, from 2023, is a continuation of his signature style blending digital animation with traditional presentation. The artwork consists of continuous computer-generated animations displayed on an LED screen, framed within a walnut enclosure. The figure is rendered in a minimalist, pixelated form, frozen in mid-dance with a monochromatic color scheme. The simple geometric representation of the human form captures movement and rhythm with elegance and clarity. The walnut frame provides a natural, organic contrast to the digital nature of the figure, emphasizing the intersection of modern technology and timeless materials in Opie’s exploration of motion and form.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
