Julian Opie's French Village 1, inkjet print, stylized village street with geometric buildings, arched windows, and clear sky in muted tones.

Inkjet on paper, mounted on Dibond in aluminium frame - Series: French Villages - Hand signed, numbered verso on gallery label // French Village 1 by Julian Opie is a captivating inkjet print that presents a stylized, minimalistic view of a quiet village street. Created in 2021, this piece is part of Opie's French Villages series, capturing the tranquil and structured essence of rural France. The scene is composed of geometric shapes in muted, earthy tones, representing facades with arched windows and doorways under a clear blue sky. Opie’s use of flat, block colors and simplified forms strips away detail to reveal the village's architectural rhythm, evoking a peaceful, almost timeless atmosphere. Mounted on Dibond and framed in aluminum, this print highlights Opie’s ability to create depth and character within restrained design.

What is animation?

Animation is the process of displaying a sequence of static images in rapid succession to create the illusion of movement. Each image, or frame, is slightly altered from the previous one, particularly in the moving parts, so when shown together, they form a continuous motion. Traditionally, illustrators drew each frame by hand to produce this effect.
