Hand-signed by artist -Lambda print on Fujicolour photographic paper // Julian Opie’s Imagine you are driving (fast)/Olivier w/helmet (2002) is a Lambda print that captures the essence of speed and modern minimalism. This limited edition artwork, printed on Fujicolour photographic paper, presents a split composition: on the left, a simplified racetrack stretches into the distance, marked by bold lines and flat colors that create depth through minimal detail. On the right, a close-up of a driver in a helmet, rendered in Opie's iconic graphic style, adds a human element to the scene. The driver’s expressionless visor and streamlined setting evoke the exhilaration and isolation of high-speed racing, embodying Opie’s fascination with abstraction and perspective in contemporary life.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
