// Mod 4 by Julio Le Parc, a lithograph from 2018, features two twisted, column-like forms that appear to spiral upward. This limited edition print uses shading and light to create a three-dimensional illusion, emphasizing the twisted nature of the shapes as they rise in a dance of structure and fluidity. The monochromatic palette allows for a focus on depth and form, as shadows play across each segment, enhancing the perception of rotation and volume. Known for his work in kinetic and optical art, Le Parc once again blurs the line between flat and dimensional space, inviting viewers to contemplate movement within stillness. This composition is both minimalist and complex, capturing a balance between rigidity and graceful flow.

What is kinetic art?
Kinetic art is an international movement that emerged in the 1920s and gained prominence in the 1960s, referring to art that involves both apparent and real motion. It encompasses any medium that includes movement, either relying on actual motion for its effect or being perceived as moving by the viewer. Early examples include canvas paintings designed to create optical illusions of movement. Today, kinetic art often refers to three-dimensional figures and sculptures, such as those operated by machines or those that move naturally. The movement covers a variety of styles and techniques that frequently overlap.
