// Julio Le Parc's Primeras Modulaciones 11 (2018) is a lithograph that embodies the artist's exploration of light and movement, central themes in his oeuvre. The composition features a grid-like arrangement of blurred black dots that appear to pulsate and shift, creating an optical illusion of depth and motion. The gradual fade and modulation of the dots produce a dynamic visual experience, drawing the viewer’s eye towards the center while simultaneously expanding outward. The use of minimalistic shapes and monochromatic tones enhances the sense of illusion and perception manipulation, making this limited edition print a powerful example of kinetic and Op Art. This work, produced in an edition of 40, reflects Le Parc’s mastery of creating immersive visual environments.

What is kinetic art?
Kinetic art is an international movement that emerged in the 1920s and gained prominence in the 1960s, referring to art that involves both apparent and real motion. It encompasses any medium that includes movement, either relying on actual motion for its effect or being perceived as moving by the viewer. Early examples include canvas paintings designed to create optical illusions of movement. Today, kinetic art often refers to three-dimensional figures and sculptures, such as those operated by machines or those that move naturally. The movement covers a variety of styles and techniques that frequently overlap.
