Original lithograph on paper - Signed and Numbered // Untitled (Cockfight) by Keith Haring, created in 1985, is a limited edition lithograph that exemplifies Haring's iconic style and his engagement with socio-political themes. The composition features bold black lines and vibrant red accents, characteristic of Haring’s visual language. Two stylized figures, outlined in black, appear locked in a confrontational stance, while a larger figure looms over them, extending an arm as if intervening or orchestrating the conflict. The red highlights emphasize the tension and intensity of the scene, with additional radiating lines suggesting energy and action. The plus symbol in the upper right corner adds another layer, potentially alluding to health or positive/negative dynamics within the interaction. The piece, signed and numbered, invites viewers to reflect on themes of competition, power struggles, and societal conflict, showcasing Haring’s ability to convey powerful messages through his deceptively simple and vibrant imagery.

What is Figuration Libre?
Figuration Libre is an art movement that is equivalent to the French Bad Painting and Neo-Expressionism in Europe and America. The term was coined by Ben Vautier and the Fluxus movement. In 1981, Robert Combas, François Boisrond, Hervé Di Rosa, and Rémi Blanchard formed the Figuration Libre group. The term can be interpreted as free style art, emphasizing spontaneity, freedom, and a rejection of traditional artistic conventions.
