Untitled (Plate 17) from The Blueprint Drawings

Keith Haring’s Untitled (Plate 16), screen print, depicts a figure tumbling down stairs in bold black lines against a dotted background.

Screenprint on wove paper - Signed, numbered, and dated in pencil along right edge; printer's chop mark, lower left - Printed by Durham Press, Durham, Pennsylvania - Reference: Keith Haring - Editions on Paper 1982-1990, Littmann, page 183. // Keith Haring’s Untitled (Plate 16) from The Blueprint Drawings (1990) is a black-and-white screen print that exemplifies his signature use of bold lines and simplified human figures. The artwork depicts a human figure tumbling down a set of stairs, arms outstretched in a moment of dynamic motion. The thick black lines outlining the figure and stairs create a sense of urgency, while the dotted texture on the stairs adds depth to the otherwise minimal composition. Haring’s style conveys energy and movement, inviting interpretations around vulnerability, spontaneity, or even humor. This limited edition print, signed and numbered by Haring, showcases his focus on accessibility and human connection through art.

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
