Marcello Morandini, the International Museum of Ceramic Design president, is an Italian household name known for his graphic design, sculpture, and architectural works. He prides himself on his visual style that involves the assembly of simple repetitive shapes, mostly in black and white, and turning them into complex pieces.
His repeated shapes generally concentrate more on form than superficial aesthetics. Through his visual style, Marcello Morandini collects effortless repetitive figures and amazingly builds them into complex objects with an utmost taste of creativity. His choice of materials and techniques comprise wood panels and glossy glass. Morondini’s black and white style earned him a title as the architect of the day.
Significant artworks of this world-renowned architect and designer include the Bine chair for Sawaya and Moroni, the Museum fur Konkrete Kunst entrance in Germany, a table lamp for Tecnodelta, a cabinet Valentina and Spyder table for residential baleri Bergamo, and the bench owned by Cleto Munari among other artworks fitting the geometry sculpture depicting visual description. He became a member of the jury of Design Center in Essen in 1994. In 2004, the Royal Society for Arts in London appointed him the Royal Designer for Industry for the ceramic arts.
