Mixed Media // Campbell's Soup Girls (set of 3) by Mel Ramos is a playful and provocative series that blends pop art and pin-up style. Each of the three prints features a nude woman posing seductively on or around a Campbell’s soup can, a nod to Andy Warhol’s famous Campbell's soup imagery. The women’s poses and the juxtaposition with the iconic soup cans inject humor and a sense of commercialism into the work. Ramos is known for his depictions of the female form combined with popular culture references, and this series continues his exploration of consumerism, advertising, and the objectification of women through a pop art lens.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
