Gentilhomme, Femme honteuse et Reître, from: Séries 347

Pablo Picasso's Coppie e nudi femminili IV, 1969, lithograph, two nude figures in an intimate embrace, rendered in fluid black lines on white.

Lithograph on paper Arches vellum - Printed by Atelier Mourlot, Paris - Authenticated with Mourlot stamp on the back. - Signed and dated in plate // Pablo Picasso's Coppie e nudi femminili IV is a lithograph created in 1969, exemplifying the artist's mastery of line and form. Rendered in fluid, minimalist strokes, the artwork depicts an intimate scene between two figures. Picasso’s signature approach to abstraction is evident in the elongated forms and expressive gestures, highlighting the emotional intensity of the interaction while maintaining a sense of elegance and simplicity. The curved lines suggest a fluid motion, while the facial expressions, especially the figure on top, reveal a primal, almost mythological quality. Printed on Arches vellum by the renowned Atelier Mourlot in Paris, this piece is authenticated with the Mourlot stamp on the back. Signed and dated in the plate, this work is a testament to Picasso's continued exploration of the human form and sensuality late in his career.

What is Cubism?

Cubism is an art movement that aimed to depict multiple perspectives of objects or figures within a single picture. Artists Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso pioneered this style around 1907. The name Cubism emerged from their use of geometric shapes and outlines that often resembled cubes, breaking objects down into abstracted forms.
