Screenprint, lithograph, and collage with embossing on Rives BFK paper - Hand-signed by artist - Blind stamp, lower right: (Tyler Graphics Ltd). Workshop number on verso - Published by Tyler Graphics Ltd., Bedford Village, New York // Roy Lichtenstein’s Entablature IV (141) (1976) is a visually striking work from his Entablature series, blending screen printing, lithography, collage, and embossing to evoke classical architectural forms in a pop-art context. This piece features a horizontal composition of clean lines and stylized ornamental motifs. A large beige panel dominates the center, bordered by decorative bands. The top of the piece displays a simplified wave pattern in black and white, while the bottom features an embossed relief of wave-like scrolls in white, set against bold navy blue and white stripes. The inclusion of a yellow dashed line between sections adds a touch of modernity and graphic intensity. Lichtenstein masterfully contrasts the flatness of pop art with the depth created by embossing, achieving a layered effect that references classical entablatures while also playing with abstraction and modern design. This artwork is a fusion of historical architecture and contemporary artistic techniques, making it both timeless and innovative.

What is site specific art?
Site-Specific Art is a form of artwork created to exist in a particular location, with the artist considering the site as an integral part of the creative process. Robert Irwin was a key figure in promoting this art form in California. Site-Specific Art emerged as a reaction against modernist objects, which were often portable, commodified, and confined to museum spaces. In contrast, Site-Specific Art is inherently tied to its location, challenging the traditional notions of art as a transportable and marketable commodity.
