Set of two offset lithographic posters, printed in colours on wove paper - 72 x 52 cm / 28.3 x 20.5 in (each) - Unsigned // Cosmic Girl by Yoshitomo Nara, created in 2008, is a limited edition set of two offset lithographic prints that showcases the artist’s signature style of childlike figures. Each print measures 72 x 52 cm and features a girl with large, almond-shaped eyes. The left print portrays the girl with her eyes gently closed, conveying a serene and introspective mood, while the right print shows her with wide, open eyes, gazing outward with a slightly mysterious expression. The soft, pastel tones and the simplicity of the design give the images an ethereal and dreamlike quality, making the girl appear both innocent and enigmatic. Nara's work often explores themes of vulnerability and emotional depth, and in Cosmic Girl, the duality between the closed and open eyes adds layers of introspection and curiosity. Although unsigned, these prints are part of a limited edition of 500.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
