Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

Lisa Yuskavage is a Contemporary artist that combines psychology and pop culture into a reflection of current societal issues. She is particularly good at making use of the psychology surrounding color and its associations. Yuskavage procured her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Art, and is most widely known for her sexualized, often wildly unrealistic paintings of women.
These paintings make a rather dramatic statement about the physical expectations of women that have been set upon them by men and society as a whole. These figures, in addition to being physically impossible in their shape, are often set in surreal or dream-like environments, emphasizing the ridiculousness of these expectations. In recent years, Lisa Yuskavage has begun to expand the horizons of her work to include the male figure. She makes use of both modern and classical techniques in her paintings, and also creates drawings that explore the same themes as her paintings. (Artist website) Read More
