Murakami’s works feature an abundance of lush colour, flat and glossy surfaces and draw heavily on the beautiful motifs of traditional Japanese culture while referencing the consumerism that is currently rife in his home country - works such as Flower Ball and A Space of Philosophy succinctly capture his unique aesthetic. Murakami has also collaborated with figures within the fashion and music industries; he most notably worked with Louis Vuitton on a series of handbags, and created artwork for albums by Kanye West and Kid Cudi.
