Ugo Rondinone

Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

Acclaimed for his range of contemporary paintings and large-scale sculptures, Ugo Rondinone is a mixed-media artist whose works often incorporate bright, fluorescent colours and iconographic images; his most notable work is his Seven Magic Mountains land-art sculpture comprised of seven, fluorescently- painted totems of large, limestone boulders stacked to reach a maximum height of 32ft.

« Art is always bigger than what we can think about or talk about! »
Ugo Rondinone
Rondinone’s paintings often feature several brightly coloured, concentric rings that form a target shape – his Small Sun series of paintings succinctly exemplify this particular trademark and simultaneously evoke feelings of euphoria and reflection.

« I always take one work from the previous show and give it a new setting in the new show... just to have a thread for myself... so that it becomes like a book. »
Ugo Rondinone

In combining such psychedelic colours and various cliché phrases such as ‘Hell, Yes!’ throughout his work, Rondinone is exploring the world around him and his place and identity within it and has stated that “I see art-making as a ritual, a meditation for myself...The energy of art is that you can spend time with yourself.”

What is pop-art?

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
