Aldridge, Miles | Doors #1, 2023 — available on Composition Gallery
Screenprints in colours
Doors #1 by Miles Aldridge, created in 2023, is a limited edition screen-print that showcases the artist’s signature cinematic and vintage style. The image features a woman with platinum blonde, voluminous curls, dressed in an elegant purple gown, adorned with sparkling jewelry. She holds a bouquet of pink roses, standing at the entrance of a vibrant green door marked with the number 10. The contrasting colors—pastel pink walls against the vivid green door—create a visually captivating and dramatic scene. The woman’s expression is one of contemplation, adding a layer of narrative mystery and evoking the glamour of classic Hollywood. Aldridge’s meticulous attention to styling and lighting amplifies the sense of theatricality, blurring the line between reality and fantasy.

What is pop-art?

What is pop-art?

Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
