Michael Dweck

As a visual artist and photographer, Michael Dweck has received widespread acclaim for his sensitive approach to culture and societal differences and subsequent engagement with the visual world around him. Dweck initially enjoyed success as a creative director before turning to full-time photography; among his most notable subjects is the naked female form, alongside architecture and landscape. The End: Montauk, N.Y is arguably his most recognised narrative series of photographs; the series depicts the surfing subculture and old fishing community of Montauk and features several nude portraits – Dweck had been visiting Montauk since his teenaged years, and predicting the change that ever-increasing modernity brings, he wanted to capture it as it was and stated: ‘I wanted that collection of images to freeze Montauk.’ Asides from this body of work, Dweck also received recognition for Habana Libre, a series that depicts the privileged life of the bustling art-world of Cuba. (Artist website)
