Niele Toroni

Niele Toroni is a Swiss painter who paints with a style he defines as "Travail-Peinture." He uses brushstrokes made from a no. 50 paintbrush and repeats his strokes at 30 centimeter intervals at a perpendicular angle. Niele Toroni is credited with pioneering the practice of Travail-Peinture and has executed his works on cloth, canvas, gallery walls and floors. All of his markings are distinct; yet referred to as the same. He transforms space by creating a field where formal tensions between uniformity and difference come out. Toroni's method never wavers; he paints free of representation and continues to abide by his own rule- he will paint in autonomy.
