Robert ParkeHarrison

Robert ParkeHarrison is part of a husband-and-wife photography team that has been making art together since the mid-1990s. Their photography focuses on connections between the environment and humanity, a notion that has gained popularity thanks to such ideas as the establishment of carbon footprints and such movements as the Go Green Initiative. The ParkeHarrisons use collage, painting techniques and photogravure to mold environments that look like they are taken from films. The ParkeHarrisons' collaborative bookThe Architect's Brother was listed in theNew York Times' ten best books about photography in 2000. Their work appears in the permanent collections of more than 20 museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. In recent years they have also started making sizable, dramatic sculptures that mirror the dreamy ambiance of their photogravures.
