Jitish Kallat

Jitish Kallat is a contemporary Indian-born painter, sculptor and photographer. Kallat earned a Bachelor's Degree from Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art. His works focus on themes, such as time, death, the cycles of life, celestial bodies and familial ancestry, in addition to the urban landscape of his hometown of Mumbai, India. Some of his better known works include "Aquasaurus," "365 Lives," "Carbon Milk 9" and "Anatomy Of A Midnight." Jitish Kallat's art has appeared in both solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. Collections of his work can be viewed in noteworthy museums and galleries, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn museum in Brooklyn, New York; and the Saatchi Gallery in London, England. Jitish Kallat draws comparisons with artists, such as Jyothi Bhatt and Bhupen Khakhar. Jatish Kallat served as the Artistic Director for the second edition of the Kochi-Muzins Biennial in Kochi, India.
