Nathan Carter

Vibrant colours, playful lines and angular shapes sums up the work of American born, New York artist, Nathan Carter. But his work runs much deeper than that. Best described as Contemporary Pop with a certain Andy Warhol and Pop Culture like flair, Nathan Carter uses conventional materials in his work, such as plexiglas, wire and wood for his striking sculptures but what makes them extra notable is how he incorporates small findings from his walks around Brooklyn into his work. Small, every day treasures, turned into art, right before your eyes. A common theme throughout his pieces is his use of harsh block colour which makes the art pop and certainly stand out from a crowd. His forth solo exhibition, Radio Transmission Contraptions (2008), an electric and striking display of line sculptures used to signify the dying art of conversation and the effect technology has had on face to face communication. Carter's line sculptures look delicate to the eye but represent a palpable sense of balance.
