Larry Zox

Larry Zox (United States, 1937–2006) was an American painter and printmaker associated with Abstract Expressionism, Color Field painting, and Lyrical Abstraction. Renowned for his vibrant geometric compositions, Zox's work often featured dynamic color juxtapositions and hard-edge techniques. His notable series include the 'Rotation' and 'Scissors Jack' paintings, which challenged traditional notions of symmetry and form.

Larry Zox was an American painter and print maker, born in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Oklahoma University and Drake University, and got more art studies at the Des Moines Art Center, where he studied with fellow artist George Grosz.

He has commonly been listed as a color field painter and a lyrical obstructionist, but described himself as a colorist. Larry Zox was an important part of the Color Field movement of the 60's, and is known for his life which revolved around art and famous artists. He was also a resident artist at various Universities, such as Yale University and University of North Carolina. His art style incorporated geometric abstractions such as painted diamonds, triangles and other shapes, with color additions to give the painting life. Larry's work was widely celebrated, with him attending and getting exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art of New York. Some of his famous art work include the Scissors Jack which he created 1974 and the Odon 1 which he created in 1981.
