Geometric Abstract art

What is geometric abstract art?

Geometric abstraction is a form of abstract art that uses geometric shapes arranged in a non-illusionistic space (though not always) and combined into non-representational (non-objective) compositions. Based on years of artistic research, some artists have proposed that geometric abstraction offers a solution to modern challenges by rejecting traditional illusionistic practices in favor of clarity and simplicity.

Multimedia

Multimedia refers to an art technique that combines multiple forms of media, such as visual, audio, and digital elements, into a single composition. This is different from mixed media, which involves combining various traditional art materials within one artwork. Multimedia art often integrates technology, like video, sound, or interactive components, allowing artists to create dynamic and immersive experiences. Artists may develop new personal techniques by blending these diverse media, contributing to their unique artistic style.

Aesthetic movement

The Aesthetic Movement emerged in the late 19th century, emphasizing the beauty and sensual qualities of art over practical or moral considerations. It promoted the idea of creating art for its own sake, valuing beauty and aesthetic experience as ends in themselves. The movement was particularly influential in Britain.

Bay Area Figurative Art

The Bay Area Figurative Movement, which also goes by the names Bay Area Figurative School, Bay Area Figurative Art, or Bay Area Figuration, came to existence in San-Francisco Bay Area. This was in the mid-20th century, when a group of artists from the area stopped working on the then popular Abstract Expressionism for a preference to figuration in painting. The movement lasted a total of two decades during the 1950's and 1960's.
